Offwell Village Fete Returns in 2024
After a long absence Offwell Fete will take place on Saturday 29 th June, from 1.00 to 4.30pm at Offwell Recreation
Ground and Village Hall.
All proceeds from the day will be shared between the Village Hall Charity, St. Mary’s Church, Offwell PTFA and the Village Fund.
The Fete committee held an open meeting on 1st May to update everyone on the main events, activities, stalls and attractions confirmed so far. The next open meeting will be held in the Village Hall on Wednesday 5th June and a database email will be sent out to remind everyone of the date. You may just want to hear more about the Fete arrangements and/or like to help out in some capacity on the day. The committee are still looking for volunteers and a detailed list of ‘volunteer opportunities’ can be found below.
The Fete
In the week leading up to the Fete (24th - 29th June) there will be a Scarecrow Competition (Theme: Olympics). It is hoped that many households in the village will take part plus adorning their garden walls and fences with (waterproof!) bunting. Please display your scarecrow in a prominent position at the edge of your property. Judging will take play on 28th June and the winners will be announced at the Fete on Saturday 29th June.
Entry forms are now available from The Barn in a box on the table under the awning. (Please see here for further information) On the Fete day all tea, coffee and cake will be provided in the Village Hall by the Church Team. A BBQ will be run by the PTFA.
Confirmed in the central ring will be Twirl Stars Dance Group and Tudor Dance Group plus the children’s fancy dress, (Theme: Mad Hatters) independently judged. (Please note the Mad Hatters must be homemade)
There will be a Bouncy Castle for the children and Cleave Farm animals will be penned at the side of the field. Confirmed stalls include the popular Devon Freewheelers, who will appear with one of their blood bikes; Air Ambulance, Fire Engine, WW2 vehicles, Air Cadets, PTFA (games to play), wood turners, glass, jewellery, needle craft, plants etc. and (fingers crossed) face painting.
There will be a Treasure Hunt with clues to be found at each of the stalls.
Still under consideration is a Tug of War.
